Ken (above) reviewing plans with the crew.Hello, I'm Ken Berry and I established The Berry Group with the goal of being the premier luxury custom home builder, specializing in building the best quality homes in the finest communities in Upstate South Carolina and Western North Carolina. With both of my parents being licensed builders, my roots run deep in residential construction. Clemson, South Carolina is home to my family which includes my wonderful wife Durema, and our four small children. We love this area and are proud to be raising our family here. I am a proud graduate of Clemson University where I earned a degree in Civil Engineering. My early career began as a professional engineer working mostly in the large-scale commercial construction business, on complex projects such as hospitals, historic renovations, research laboratories and educational facilities. Many of the projects I have managed can be found around the campus of Clemson University. While my early career consisted of mainly commercial work, my first love is custom residential. I take great pride in performing high quality work and bringing the visions of the client and architects to reality.
To make each project a success, I have hand picked and assembled a team of highly qualified managers and craftsmen. All of my staff have an excellent work ethic and are dedicated to delivering the highest quality workmanship to my clients. I am committed to paying them well, providing them with the benefits so needed in today's world and doing all that is necessary to make their work environment a positive one. This insures my team will be strong today and for many years to come.

The Management Team
Josh Byrd
Josh's dedication to detail and quality craftsmanship is an asset to The Berry Group. Throughout his past construction experience, he has gained valuable time management, problem solving, and quality control skills that apply to his leadership role as superintendent. He is a skilled carpenter with experience in framing and timber framing. The Clemson University alumnus values a strong work ethic to build distinctive homes in upstate South Carolina and North Carolina.
In their free time, Josh and his wife Renee enjoy restoring their 100+ year-old farm house in Pickens, South Carolina, and hiking with their two dogs.

Curt Edsell
Curt is a true New England craftsman with over 13 years experience as a carpenter and home builder. His meticulous attention to detail and extreme commitment to quality show clearly in every project he is a part of. His owner/operator experience of a residential contracting company has taught him strong leadership and management skills as well as the ability to get along with everyone connected to the job.
Born and raised in New Hampshire, the son of a boat builder, woodworking has always been and still is a part of everyday life for Curt. He is a dedicated husband and father of two and enjoys nothing more than sharing his free time with family.

Randy Hughey
Randy is a great asset to our company in the role of estimator. He has been in the construction industry for 5 years and has established many valuable contacts that have proven instrumental in our ability to prepare and submit bids in an accurate and efficient manner. His overall knowledge of the construction process greatly aids us in this area also. Randy takes great pride in developing relationships with our clients and keeps them informed on key budget issues throughout the building process. He graduated from University of Tennessee with a degree in Business in 2003. He enjoys all things related to Tennessee Volunteer athletics and he also enjoys golf, family and friends in his spare time.

Deena McCollum
Deena is our "lady in the office". She brings over 20 years of office management and financial experience to our company. Deena has lived in Pickens all her life and her home is just a few miles from our office. She has been instrumental in the organization of our office and keeps our paperwork flowing smoothly and efficiently.
Deena considers her greatest accomplishment in life her family and she enjoys camping and traveling to bluegrass festivals with them. The new love of her life is her first grandson, Carter.

Brian McIntyre
Brian has been building homes over 25 years. His experience as a custom home construction manager was developed from building a variety of different styles of homes in diverse locations. He is a recipient of numerous awards for quality construction and performance. He was awarded the “Top Builder of the Year” in Austin, Texas. He has been married for over 30 years and has 3 children. He enjoys outdoor activities such as fishing, hiking and golf.

Dick Rogers
Dick is a great asset to our company as a construction manager. He is dedicated to his craft and brings with him many years of experience in luxury residential construction. He is a licensed residential builder with great attention to detail. His ability to work well with people makes him an excellent asset on our jobsites.
Originally from Charlotte, North Carolina, Dick is a longtime resident of Pickens County and lives in Pickens with his wife Hope and their children. Dick's ability to perform high quality work, while motivating the crews to achieve their best, makes him invaluable to my team.

Richard Williams
Richard is a detail oriented construction manager and brings with him 20+ years of experience in residential and commercial construction. Richard is a licensed South Carolina Residential Builder and is also a proud Clemson University graduate. He earned a degree in Mechanical Engineering and uses that training to insure all our projects have the best quality mechanical and electrical systems. Richard's keen eye for detail and design proves valuable in working with architects and interior designers. Richard has built luxury custom homes from the mountain lakes of South Carolina all the way to the oceanfront in Pawleys Island, South Carolina. In his spare time, he enjoys Clemson football, home projects, and spending time with friends and family.

The Crews
Our crews are led by Daniel Byrd who is our on-site construction supervision. They are made up of career-minded individuals who willingly work hard on a daily basis. The carpenters on our crews are excellent at what they do and each individual is placed in situations where they perform at their best. A select few of them are currently being trained for future management positions in The Berry Group.
